Hi! I'm Isabel Laessig, and I'm the founder and CEO of Sunday Supper Media and its properties.
Cooking has always played a major role in my life. In the late 60s, my parents immigrated from Portugal to the United States. We have always spent time in the kitchen with each other; I have fond memories of making Rissóis de Camarão with my mother over the holidays, and enjoying family time around the dinner table together.
Between their love for food and time spent together, I naturally fell in love with cooking and sharing food with my loved ones. Even as a child, I knew I wanted a large family of my own one day!
Then, now, and always, there is nothing in this world I love more than spending time with my family. As a mother to 4 and grandmother to 2, I know how difficult it can be to answer the question of "What's for dinner?"
But more importantly, I also know what it means for a family to spend that time together.
Founding Sunday Supper
In 2010, when my daughter moved away for college, I asked her what she would miss most about being at home.
She told me: "Mom, I'll miss our dinners together the most!"
I knew I had to have a way to share our family recipes while she was away, and so I started my first recipe website, Family Foodie.
In 2012, my love for sharing recipes had grown beyond a way to share recipes with my own family. I wanted to share the same passion for cooking and bringing the family back around the dinner table with everyone, and so I created Sunday Supper Movement and established National Sunday Supper Day as a holiday.
Since then, I have spread our mission to bring family back around the dinner table not only by sharing my family's favorite recipes online, but through television segments, brand partnerships, and by publishing my e-cookbooks!
Beyond Sunday Supper
Sunday Supper Movement was just the first step in what has now become the Sunday Supper brand.
